Send an Email Post a Greeting
Hello everyone,

I have been acting as the leader of this group despite me being in Chicago most of the time and as a result the activity of the group has weaned. A group of us met a few weeks ago in Squirrel Hill and we had a great time. We all decided that the best way for the group to proceed is by individual members volunteering to lead discussions so the responsibility for leading the group will be divided among active members.

I have updated the topic listing for the upcoming year and while we have a number of volunteers, we don't have that many topics. If you would like to volunteer to lead a discussion, or would like to propose a discussion topic, please reply to that post in the message board. it will be easier to keep track of discussions if there is a public record than if the conversation proceeds through email.

We have drafted a few ground rules (comments welcome but no changed will be approved until the next meet-up by majority vote of whomever attends).
First, to help pay for the meet-up fees everyone who attends a meeting will fork-up 2 dollars. Suzanne and I split the cost of the first 6 months of this year, and I will layout for the next six months, so the money will be used to reimburse us first, and then to purchase drinks when we have a surplus.
Second, each meeting must involve food, drinks, and discussion. Participants are only required to discuss but those who want to must be allowed to eat and drink - violators will be shackled.
Third, whomever leads a meeting will be responsible for distributing an email to the entire meet-up group 1 to 2 weeks before the meet-up. The email will announce the time, place, topic/agenda, and will contain/provide a link to reading material for participants. Anyone who attends the meeting should read but does not have to have read the material to participate.

Fourth, for now we have decided to have meetings on the 2nd or 3rd Thursday of the month.
Did I leave anything out?

I am heading back to Chicago for the week today, but I look forward to the next meet-up in a few weeks.
My best,
Jordan
